Radical Minds is a show that airs every Thursday at 2 PM on WHPK 88.5 FM Chicago. Aired February 8th, 2018, this episode features an interview with Kate Evans (author of 'Red Rosa: A Graphic Biography of Rosa Luxemburg') conducted by your hosts, Erin Hagood and Stephanie Gomez.

Dieses Jahr markiert das 50. Jubiläum der Ereignisse des Mai 1968. Deshalb laden wir Euch ein an unserem 6 wöchigen Lesekreis über die Neue Linke teilzunehmen.

Zwischen unserer Gegenwart und 1968 liegen mittlerweile mehr Jahre, als zwischen der Russischen Revolution von 1917 und den Ereignissen von 1968. Eingeleitet von einer Neuen Linken, welche sich von der in den 1920er und 30er Jahre aufgekommenen Alten Linken abzugrenzen versuchte, gaben die monumentalen Ereignisse des Jahres 1968 den Ton für alles an, was wir bis heute kennen: von der Protestpolitik bis zur akademischen Linken. Wir verspüren die Dringlichkeit der Frage: : Welche Lehren können wir aus der Neuen Linken ziehen, während eine neue Generation das Unterfangen auf sich nimmt, eine Linke für das 21. Jahrhundert aufzubauen?

Woche 2 – 06.03.2018: Theorie und Praxis - Marcuse und Adorno in der Neuen Linken: die 1930er und die '60er

Die Vorstellungen darüber pflegen umso weniger klar zu sein, als doch das gegenwärtige System selbst den Namen der Freiheit trägt und als liberales angesehen wird. ... Woche 3 – 13.03.2018: Krise der Linken: Ist Revolution durch Geschichte gerechtfertigt?

„Denn befinden wir uns nicht immer in der Ausnahme? Eine Ausnahme war das [Scheitern von 1848 in Frankreich und das] deutsche Scheitern von 1849, eine Ausnahme das Pariser Scheitern von 1871, eine Ausnahme das Scheitern der deutschen Sozialdemokraten zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts (in Erwartung ihres chauvinistischen Verrats von 1914), eine Ausnahme der Erfolg von 1917 … Dies sind alles Ausnahmen gewesen, aber in Bezug auf was? " 'Revisionism' is the view that every new development requires the abandonment in practice of basic aspects of previously held theory. Ultimately this drift from the dialectical materialist method leads to a drift from the working class itself. Particularly in the present period, when the working class seems to the empiricist to be under the complete and everlasting domination of reformist bureaucracies, this ideological pressure is the result of a terribly strong social pressure. This year marks the 50th anniversary of May 68. As such, we would like to invite you to participate in the 12-week reading group covering the New Left.

The same amount of time has passed between our moment and 1968 as between the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the events 1968. Ushered in by a New Left that sought to distinguish itself from the Old Left that emerged in the 20s and 30s, the monumental events of 1968 set the tone for everything from protest politics to academic leftism that we know today. We can perhaps feel the urgency of the question: what lessons are to be drawn from the New Left as another generation undertakes the project of building a Left for the 21st century?

"For, after all, are we not always in exceptional situations? The failure of the [1848 revolution in France and the] 1849 revolution in Germany [were] exception[s], the failure in Paris in 1871 was an exception, the German Social-Democratic failure of the beginning of the 20th Century in producing the chauvinism of 1914 was an exception, the success of 1917 was an exception — exceptions, but with respect to what? Gayle McLaughlin served two four-year terms as the mayor of Richmond, California, first elected in 2006 and then reelected in 2010. She was first elected to city council in 2004 as a member of the Green Party and was again elected to the council in 2014 after finishing her second term as mayor. She is a co-founder of the Richmond Progressive Alliance, which enjoys a majority on the Richmond City Council. In 2017, Gayle announced her candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of California. The election will be held on November 6, 2018. What follows is an edited transcript of the interview conducted with McLaughlin by William Lushbough of the Platypus Affiliated Society on December 2, 2017, at her home in Richmond.
